The vacuum bagging process is important when producing critical laminates. This procedure produces laminates with higher reinforcement to resin ratios and fewer voids. Honeycomb core must be vacuum bagged due to limited bonding area along the cell edges. On a 10" x 10" laminate, vacuum bagging with 21" Hg produces over 1000 lbs of clamping pressure. A diagram of a typical vacuum bag is below.
Vacuum Sources
We have several types of vacuum sources to choose from, Both new surplus and used pumps are available. Please call or email for more information on the vacuum source that fits your needs.
Vacuum Pump Kit
Gast 1/3 HP vacuum pump. Used surplus rotary vane pump provides 25" of vacuum. Has 4 cfm displacement with 1/4" NPT inlet. Requires attachment of switch, mounting base, and line cord (not included).
Supplies
We carry a complete line of Vacuum Bagging Supplies, including yard goods, connectors, hoses, and vacuum sources. Quantity discounts are available for all vacuum bagging yard goods. Receive 10% discount on purchases of 10 - 29 yards, 15% discount for 30 - 49 yards, 20% discount for 50 - 99 yards, and 25% discount for 100+ yards.
High Temperature Bagging Film
High quality bagging film for use at temperatures up to 350 F. Width 60".
High Elongation Bag Film
So flexible and stretchy, it reduces or eliminates the need for pleats in a bag. 60" wide. Use to 200 F.
High Temperature Perforated Release Film
Release film with pierced holes which allow limited resin transfer for use at temperatures up to 450 F. Width 48". High elongation for use on contoured parts.
Low Temperature Perforated Release Film
A perforation pattern of 0.045 holes on 1/4" staggered centers allows this film to pass more excess resin. The 0.002" thickness gives you better handling but makes thie product most suited to flat or simple curved panels. Use to 300 F. Width 46".
Low Temperature Bagging Film
This is an outstanding bagging film for use from room temperature up to 200 F. Width 54".
Low Temperature Non-Perforated Release Film
This is an outstanding bagging film for use from room temperature up to 200 F. No perforations. Width 46".
Peel Ply
Fine finish treated fabric leaves surface suitable for secondary bonding and maximum resin transfer. Width 46".
Sealing Tape
A tacky sealant tape for sealing bag assembly. Strips easily with no residue. Good to 350 F. Roll contains 25 feet of tape.
| Quantity | Price | | | | $6.10/roll | Order! | | Case of 40 | $181.75case | Order! |
Porous Teflon
Similar material to Peel Ply but Teflon coated for easier release. Best for flat or simple curved parts. Width 38".
Vacuum Bag Connector
Two piece vacuum valve with a 1/4" NPT for in-bag connection.
Bleeder/Breather Ply
Thin, high quality bleeder or breather ply for use with eleveated temperature cures and complex shapes.
Hose Ends
These self-sealing connectors maintain vacuum integrity even when disconnected.
High Temperature Hose
Custom made hoses for use in autoclaves and ovens. Good to 450 F. Call for pricing.
Flashbreaker Tape
An all purpose polyester based tape with a silicone adhesive used for holding materials at elevated temperatures. Roll is 1" wide by 72 yards long.
Vacuum Gauges
Don't guess -- know what is going on in your bag. 0-30" Hg vacuum gauge with 1/4 NPT fitting.
